Hep C Testing for Perinatal Exposure @8:45AM HST

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN), will host a webinar to familiarize health care providers with CDC’s recommendations for perinatal hepatitis C testing and universal hepatitis C screening among pregnant persons. The webinar will encourage the implementation of the recommendations to increase identification and treatment of children with perinatally acquired HCV infection. During the webinar, presenters from AAP, ACOG, CDC, and NASPGHAN will provide attendees with information on:

- CDC’s universal hepatitis C screening recommendations among pregnant persons during every pregnancy,

- CDC’s hepatitis C testing recommendations among infants and children born to pregnant persons with HCV infection,

- Strategies for prioritizing hepatitis C virus (HCV) testing of all perinatally exposed infants at age 2 to 6 months with a nucleic acid test (NAT) for detection of HCV, and

- Strategies to implement the recommendations to increase identification and treatment of children with perinatally acquired HCV infection.”
