Data Highlight! Hep B and Immigrants in Hawaiʻi @12 PM HST

Donʻt just get mad…get data!

In February 2024, the Hawaiʻi Journal of Health and Social Welfare published an article that looked at hep B testing data among foreign-born Asian and Pacific Islander patients at a community health center in Honolulu. Download the infographic.

Join the lead author, Yash Vyas, as he discusses the findings from the article, which include:

  • About 1 out of 10 of tested patients had chronic hepatitis B (CHB);

  • About 3 times higher odds of CHB if the patient lived with someone with hep B;

  • About 3 times higher odds of CHB if the patient was 35 to 44 years old (compared to those over 65 years old).
