Black Lives Matter

Racism Is Unacceptable

During these extraordinary and unsettling times, we struggle to find the words to express our outrage, despair, and horror. We are watching lives being lost, and Black Lives Matter.

With our core values of Harm Reduction, Social Justice, Intersectionality, and Aloha, we have always recognized that racism is a public health issue. We stand in solidarity with our black 'ohana because we know that all of our efforts to eliminate hepatitis--including drug user health, immigrant rights, LGBTQ equity, Native Hawaiian sovereignty--are inextricable from the struggle to fight racism.

Like us, many of you are feeling overwhelmed and frightened and unsure. Together, let us listen to our black allies, engage with our communities, and take a stand against racism and for health.

With aloha and in solidarity,
Hep Free Hawaii
