Global Hep Report for WHD @2AM HST

World Hepatitis Day 2026: Breaking down the new Global Hepatitis Report

“Viral hepatitis is now the deadliest communicable disease, with the number of deaths from hepatitis continuing to rise –1.3 million people died from liver cirrhosis or liver cancer caused by hepatitis in 2024. WHO recently published the Global Hepatitis Report 2026, which highlights that progress towards achieving the 2030 hepatitis elimination goals remains slow and uneven. With 2030 fasting approaching, urgent action is needed now to accelerate change for people living with hepatitis and ensure no one dies from a preventable disease. Ahead of World Hepatitis Day 2026, the World Hepatitis Alliance is organising a webinar to break down the new data and explore how stakeholders can work together to achieve the 2030 elimination goals and prevent liver cancer cases.”
