2018 HFH Hero Awards

HFH Award 2018 1.jpg

We are proud to announce the recipients of the 2018 Hep Free Hawaii Hero Award goes to both Kenson and Rensely Alik!

We recognize their tireless efforts to increase awareness of hepatitis B within Micronesian communities by using low-threshold, culturally appropriate talk-story sessions. Since 2015, they have coordinated the Micronesian Education for Liver Wellness Program in collaboration with Hep Free Hawaii. Through storytelling and advocacy, they have ensured that the voices of Micronesian and Pacific Island people—especially those affected by hepatitis B—are heard. (Watch their videos on Youtube.)

Their efforts have also earned them recent national recognition, when they received 2018 Hepatitis B Champion awards from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Hep B United, and the Hepatitis B Foundation in August, 2018.

Congratulations, Ken and Ren! We are honored to work with you both!
