In January 2018, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and the CDC published a report with updated recommendations to prevent hepatitis B infection. The report includes recommendations on:
- testing for pregnant women, including those who are hepatitis B positive
- universal hepatitis B vaccination within 24 hours of birth, followed by completion of the vaccine series
- vaccination of children, adolescents, and adults, according to recommended schedules and/or risks
- post-exposure prophylaxis
August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM)!
Safe and effective vaccines are available to prevent hepatitis A and hepatitis B infections, and avoid serious illness and death associated with them.
Make sure you and your loved ones have the vaccines recommended to prevent diseases, including hepatitis!
